Sally Robinson, Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist, earned her Masters
Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches Institute in Santa
Cruz, California in December of 2003.
She is nationally licensed as a
practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine as she is a Diplomate in
Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture, and Chinese Herbology through NCCAOM
(National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.)
Additionally, she is licensed as an acupuncturist by the Acupuncture Board
of California, the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board, and the South
Carolina Board of Medical Examiners. Her training at Five Branches
was
thoroughly steeped in the practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM),
as the school’s emphasis is on the synthesis and integration of the five
branches of Chinese Medicine. The five branches are acupuncture,
herbology,
dietetics, massage (tui na) and energetics (qi gong and tai qi.) Western
medicine was taught throughout the four year program in preparation for the
face of Chinese Medicine today, as it intrinsically complements Western
medicine. The integration of Eastern and Western medicines is the eminent
avenue of progressive health care today.
Ms. Robinson has been fortunate enough to be an active participant in the
integration of Eastern and Western medicines, as she has experience in
providing acupuncture for in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures in
hospitals in Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina. Presently in
Asheville, she works with several Western medical doctors, referring
patients as appropriate in achieving their optimal health.
After completing her training in California, Ms. Robinson founded her
private practice in Charleston, South Carolina. After establishing a
thriving practice, gracefully bridging the gaps between Eastern and Western
medicines, she relocated to Asheville. The abundance of native medicinal
herbs in the mountains of this area were a big draw for her, as she lives
and works closely with plants in her work and personal life. She is the
founder of White Pine Acupuncture. Her private practice is well balanced
by
her teaching position at Daoist Traditions, a Daoist based acupuncture
school in Asheville.
In further, ongoing exploration on her path of the healing arts, Sally has
stepped into the beautiful tradition of Japanese acupuncture with the ever
gracious Miki Shima, OMD. One of the characteristics of Japanese style
acupuncture is very gentle needling technique and extremely subtle
stimulation achieving significant responses. She is also extremely
appreciative to have ongoing studies with Jeffrey Yuen, a wise, humble, and
loving acupuncturist who is an 88th generation Taoist priest. These two
wonderful teachers are aligned with Ms. Robinson’s shared belief and
experience that spirituality is of utmost importance in life, health, and
all things.
Having formerly lived in the Asheville area before attending acupuncture
school in California, Ms. Robinson was grateful to return to the beautiful
Appalachian mountains rich in plant biodiversity. She incorporates locally
grown and ethically wildcrafted plants into her herbal pharmacy.
Sally does not proclaim to have only one specialty, as she was trained to
treat all conditions. She is honored to be of service in helping people to
heal themselves.
